THE PECULIARITIES OF EXTENT AND DEGREE ADVERBS AS WORDS-GRADUATORS IN SPECIAL TEXTS

Abstract
The purpose of the article: to investigate the notion of graduality in modern Linguistics concerning adverbs functioning in special texts. The adverbs of extent and degree were chosen to analyze the co-occurrence. The semantics of the chosen adverbs reflects some degree of the characteristic exposure, the degree of its intensity. The semantics of extent and degree adverbs synthesizes the characteristics of qualitative and quantitative features as well as the degree of their exposure. Analyzing adverbs-graduators we took into account the fact that the composition of graduality is manifested in its trial structure: it has a central member, which represents the norm, and two oppositions – less than the norm and more than the norm. It provides the review of quantitative and qualitative adverbs. The adverbial vocabulary is taken from educational, scientific and technological texts. The lexemes are divided into the group according the key meaning. The article also supplies the comparison of separate groups adverbs rate in the texts of different types. The results of the investigation: In the process of investigation we draw a conclusion that the adverbs of extent and degree enter the group of quantitative adverbs. The adverbs of extent and degree are the most frequent in the sphere of special communication. It is also found out that the graduality in special texts has a trial structure – norm, less than the norm, more than the norm. The analysis of adverbs collocation on the material of adverbs-graduators syntagmatics showed that the category of graduality in special texts is actively expressed with the help of adverbial intensifiers (очень, весьма, сильно, немного and others) and quantifiers (полностью, много, мало, часто, редко and others).
