The phenomenon of love in the Ancient philosophical tradition: on the rethinking of the theoretical basis of research

Journal Title: ИДЕИ. ФИЛОСОФСКО СПИСАНИЕ - Year 2018, Vol 7, Issue 2

Abstract

The article analyzes theoretical basis of the study of comprehension of love in the Ancient philosophical thought. The necessity to involve different kinds of scientific research on ancient philosophy is proved. This makes it possible to disclose widely the mentioned problems. It has been revealed that it is heuristically important for the holistic explication of love among ancient Greek and Roman thinkers to use scientific works devoted to the philosophy of love, friendship, and also philological and culture studies researches. Such a complex of scientific works will help to avoid relevant "stereotypes" and "cliché" that are still present in the research literature
