Abstract

BehçetNecatigil, who is a poet resorting to utilizing almost all sources of Turkish Literature from the Orkhon Inscriptions to today, has taken his place as a genuine poet in our literature. It can be regarded that his universe of poem is not limited only to Turkish Literature, but he expands to important poets of the world literature from Goethe, Rilke, and Knut Hamsun to Herman Hesse. One of these poets is Charles Baudelaire who is accepted as the pioneer of the contemporary literature. The trouble similar to the theme in The Flowers of Evil (original name; Les Fleurs du Mal, translated into Turkish with the name Elem Çiçekleri) of Baudelaire which turns in to a symbol in the form of a reference to the first great tragedy of the modern times is seen in the poem of Necatigil called “KorkuÇiçekleri” (i.e. Flowers of Fear). Indeed, the title of the poem obviously connotes the book of Baudelaire translated into Turkish with the name Elem Çiçekleri. In this study, the poem called “KorkuÇiçekleri” which is formed with the stylization of Necatigil and is built on assumed loss, weariness, metaphysical fear, and ontological insecurity will be analyzed and based on the poem, impressions of the poet regarding Baudelaire will be discussed.
