Abstract

The article investigates the poetics of the onymic oxymoron in the novels and poetry of M. Matios. The specificity of oxymoron imagery is described. The idea of conceptual, mental and lexical oxymorons is outlined. The purpose of the paper is the isolation and analysis of oxymoron constructions with a poetonical component in the artistic speech of M. Matios, the elucidation of the basis of oxymoron, the specifics of the realization of opposition and contradictions in the trope, the identification of conditions for the existence of an oxymoronial sense, and the determination of the functional and stylistic possibilities of the oxymoron. The object of the research is the artistic texts of M. Matios, the subject of analysis — poetonymic oxymoron. The material of the research are the novels of M. Matios «Hardly ever otherwise », «Mr. & Ms. U-Ko in country UA «,»The blog of the executed «and collection of poems» Women’s Arcana in the Garden of Impatience». The leading methods are the contextual-interpretive method involved in the analysis of the semantic specificity of poetonymic oxymorones, and the method of linguistic-stylistic analysis used in the inventory, classification and interpretation of oxymoron constructions. The analysis of oxymoron is carried out in various ways: from the point of view of logics, as a phenomenon of a linguistic plan, poetic speech, stylistic reception or a trope, an artistic image or the principle of organization of a figurative system as a whole. The basis of the artistic image and verbal poetic image is the conceptual oxymoron. As a result of the study, it has been proved that synchronous and diachronic aspects are important for the interpretation of the oxymoronic meaning. The appearance of oxymoronic meanings signals the intensification of the connotative semantics of the poetonym, which enters the anti-ethical combination with the apelative. Such frames are markers of the linguistic and creative activity of the author, a reflection of his ideological orientations and an aesthetic concept of the artist’s personality. The practical use of the results of the study is in the lexicographic elaboration of the individual author’s poetonyms. Investigated propriatives are placed in our «Dictionary of poetonyms of artistic prose of M. Matios».
