The Poltava doctor Alexander Aleksandrovich Volkenstein (1851-1925) in Isaak Mariyenbakh’s memoirs

Abstract

In article it is told about the Poltava doctor and the revolutionary Alexander Aleksandrovich Volkenstein, the friend and the adherent of the famous humanist writer and the public figure Vladimir Galaktionovich Korolenko. Thanks to little-known memoirs of a poltavchanin of scientific community of Isaak Abramovich Mariyenbakh we can fill in some blanks in the biography of the talented doctor and public figure who physically and morally saved human souls and fought against injustice and oppression. I.A. Mariyenbakh’s memoirs are stored in fund of the Poltava historian and local historian Vera Nikanorovna Zhuk in the State archive of Poltava region. Thanks to their introduction to a scientific turn an opportunity to deepen knowledge from primary source lips of a course of life and public work of Alexander Aleksandrovich Volkenstein is represented.
