The position press of Ukrainian national-democratic forces in the South of Ukraine (1989-1997)

Abstract

The article to elucidated the work of journalists and media national democratic trend in Southern Ukraine. The author analyzes the statistics for subscription, socio-political situation in the region through the prism provided by the press, and also found that the newspapers raised the issue of protection of information space, civil society, foreign and domestic aspects of life. At last 1980’s – early 90’s social-political changes in the country leading to the deployment of an informal movement in the country and the emergence of alternative public network print media. For example, some publications are shown a complex way of becoming independent press, especially the relationship with the government. The main problem of the national press for democratic organizations in 1989-1991 was the lack of adequate funding, hence the limited circulation and readership numbers, meticulous attention to security organs, that examined such newspapers as uncontrolled podium to address the opposition. In the years of independence of Ukraine the situation investigated periodical is changed, it gets the pressure of the Communist Party, receives access to printing facilities. However, the chronic тshortage of funds, lack of professional personnel, lack of support for independent journalism side state significantly limited the impact of information and the creativity democratic media in the region.
