The paper analyzes the prerequisites for the output of domestic food industry enterprises to international markets. The factors and motivational mechanisms that stimulate export, and factors that negatively influence and complicate its implementation are revealed and investigated. Strategic benchmarks in the field of foreign trade relations are defined and potential scenarios of their development are grounded that would allow to overcome negative tendencies and meet the interests of producers, the state and the domestic consumer. It was found that the increase of export of products is not only an important public interest, but first and foremost, in modern conditions, this became the question of the survival of most enterprises, since the ability to expand and upgrade production depends on the receipt of foreign exchange earnings to date. Therefore, regardless of the chosen strategy, its inalienable element should be the strengthening and development of the domestic market by increasing real incomes of citizens, the introduction of an effective system of food subsidies that takes into account the best world experience of protecting the domestic producer by all methods that do not contradict the international agreements, and defending national interests when making additions and changes to them.
