The principle of tolerance in for-profit organisations and tolerance in the educational background

Journal Title: Problemy Współczesnej Pedagogiki - Year 2015, Vol 1, Issue 1

Abstract

The article attempts to present innovative issues related to the application of the principle of tolerance in business and educational backgrounds. This innovation is primarily connected with the method itself. For-profit organisations were used as a model by means of which one can verify the scope of applications of the principle and analyse its performance in certain realities. Subsequently, the article discusses the implications arising due to the reference of the resultant applications to the situational context associated with education. The economization of education, like the economisation of other spheres of public life, does not mean that the same ideas, values, principles can be interpreted identically when we refer them to a company and to school (university). The goal of for-profit organisations is the reason for which the applicability of the principle of tolerance in them is limited to so-called negative tolerance, moreover treated as a kind of protective belt against other organisations of this type. In the case of school, whose activities cannot be reduced to the free market, the principle of tolerance requires the use of its positive version. School should teach their pupils both critical thinking (distinguishing views) and remain an institution fully accepting them as individuals.
