The Problem of Truth According to William James

Abstract
The concept of truth is one of the most fundamental issues that epistemology examines and emphasizes. Pragmatism and the truth revealed by William James, one of the most important representatives of this movement, made an original contribution to the theories of truth that were put forward in the history of philosophical history. Until James, there are those who advocate that there is no such thing as truth and that there is no place for it to be discovered where as there are those who say that truth is somewhere waiting to be discovered like a mine. The innovation that James brings to this process is the understanding that truth is neither like a mine waiting to be discovered nor is it inaccessible. According to him, truth is a dynamic process within the experiential life and invented according to the needs of the people.
