Journal Title: The Journal of Happiness and Well-Being - Year 2015, Vol 3, Issue 1

Abstract

This paper describes the reliability and validity results of Positivity Scale, developed by Caprara et al. (2012), in Turkish sample. Within the scope of the current study, the language equivalence was examined and it was determined that the final Turkish form was valid. In second phase the reliability and factorial structure of measure were explored and the results revealed strong support for reliable and valid measure. The acceptable test re-test reliability coefficient was obtained. The convergent validity of Positivity Scale was investigated by analyzing the relationships between positivity and life satisfaction and happiness. Eventually, the discriminant validity of Positivity Scale was examined. Additionally, it was shown that positivity is a discriminant variable for social support seeking, problem focused coping, avoidance which are coping styles with stress. Overall, it could be stated that the Positivity Scale is a reliable and valid measure in Turkish sample.
