THE QUALITY OF GROUNDWATER AND SURFACE WATER NEAR THE SOKOLNIK LANDFILL (MIŃSK DISTRICT)
Journal Title: Biuletyn Państwowego Instytutu Geologicznego - Year 2011, Vol 445, Issue 445
Abstract
The article presents the results of own and archive chemical analyses of groundwater and surface water from the Sokolnik landfill area. Chemical composition of the waters points at a significant transformation of the aquatic environment due to the inflow of pollutants from the landfill, but also, in case of a digged well, by local pollution. Quality analysis conducted in accordance with appropriate regulations helped to define the scope of the indicators exceeding the threshold values, and the status of these waters. The developed geochemical models of speciation have given a detailed description of potential forms of elements in the waters and possibility to determine their harm on the basis of literature data.
