THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN CYBERBULLYING AND SCHOOL BURNOUT BASED ON STUDENTS’ VIEWS

Abstract

The purpose of the present study is to examine the relationship between cyberbullying and school burnout level of high school students. The study is a correlational survey. The data were collected from 370 students in 15 schools in Ankara province. To collect data Cyberbullying and Online Aggression Survey Instrument and Scale for School Burnout were used. To analyze the data descriptive statistical techniques such as arithmetical mean, standard deviation and Pearson correlation were used. In addition to this, simple regression was used to understand whether cyberbullying is a significant predictor of school burnout. The findings showed that students were exposed to cyberbullying rarely. Similarly their school burnout level was also low. Pearson correlation results implied that there is a moderate and significant relation between cyberbullying and school burnout. Regression results indicated that being a victim in cyber environment is a significant predictor of school burnout. Based on the findings, it was concluded that there is a strong relationship between cyberbullying and school burnout among students.
