The relationship between identity styles and general health with students’ learning strategies

Abstract

Identity is one of the most important considerations of youth time. Having a firm consolidated identity is the precondition of individuals’ optimized growth during the life. If such a feeling is not formed it can lead to various socio-psychological problems and damages. It seems that students who have normal and information identity style have a higher general health. Teenagers and young persons with committed normal information personality style are safe against lots of diseases and gain more success in education and learning. The purpose of the present study is to explain the relationship between identity styles and general health with learning strategies. Proving the research hypotheses the results showed a negative meaningful relationship between confusion-avoidance orientation style with learning strategies (p<0.005). Other styles including normative, information and commitment orientation had a positive meaningful relationship with students’ learning strategies. (p<0.005). There was a negative relationship between sub-scales of general health like physical signs, anxiety and insomnia, social inefficiency and depression with students’ learning strategies. Negative relationship of social inefficiency with learning strategies was stronger and more meaningful (p<0.005).
