The Relationship between Personality Dimensions and Creativity of Athletic Trainers in West Azerbaijan Province

Abstract
The aim of this study was to assess the relationship between personality dimensions and creativity of athletic trainers in West Azerbaijan Province. This is an applied study and the research method is descriptive-correlational. The statistical population in this study was all athletic trainers in West Azerbaijan province, Iran, including 1000 people. The sample size was determined using Morgan table, and accordingly, 211 trainers were randomly selected. Research instruments in this study included a general information questionnaire (including age, sex, field of study, training level and degree of education), five-factor questionnaire of personality (John et al) and creativity questionnaire (Abedi, 2002). Its validity was confirmed by five professors of sport management. For assessing the reliability for questionnaires of personality dimensions and creativity, Cronbach’s alpha was used and it was found to be 0.78 and 0.79, respectively. For data analysis, Kolmogorov-Smirnov test and Pearson correlation coefficient at a significance level of p <0.05 were applied using SPSS software. The results revealed that there was a significant positive relationship between the experience and all of the creativity components; while, creativity did not show any significant relationship with extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness and emotional stability.
