The Relationship between translators’ cognitive style and their job satisfaction

Abstract

The aim of this study is the relationship between translators' cognitive style and their job satisfaction. This study is a Descriptive– Correlation research. The statistical population consists of all students (57 persons) in Senior English Language of Marvdasht Islamic Azad University. According to the Grjsy-Morgan (1970), 50 students (10 males (20%) and 40 females (80%)) were selected by convenience sampling. The measurement tools included in the Job Satisfaction questionnaire (28 questions) and Cognitive Style questionnaire (30 questions) that their validity and reliability were estimated and used. The collected data were analyzed by descriptive statistics method to verify the results of demography and the central indices and dispersion, as well as inferential statistics methods to the hypotheses testing (the relationship between variables by Pearson correlation coefficient and the difference average score by independent T-test) according to SPSS software. The results show that: 1. There is a significant relationship between cognitive style and job satisfaction. 2. The significant difference between the achievements of translators' with high cognitive style and translators' with low cognitive style.
