The research of the hygienic properties of pine veneer used in plywood production

Abstract

The research of the hygienic properties of pine veneer used in plywood production. The hygienic properties of pine veneer used in plywood production has been investigated. Determination of VOC was performed by TD-GC/MS method and formaldehyde emission by WKI flask method. The effect of time of seasoning and heat treatment on CH2O and VOC emission was found. The equilibrium concentration of emitted formaldehyde is relatively quickly. The main VOC compounds emitted from pine veneer were monoterpenes and carbonyl compounds. The highest emission of monoterpenes was observed for α-pinene and Δ3-carene, and for a group of carbonyl compounds it was observed for hexanal.
