THE RIGHT TO DEFENSE WITH THE HELP OF A CHOSEN LAWYER IN INTERNATIONAL CRIMINAL COURTS: A GENERAL CHARACTERISTIC

Abstract
The article deals with general questions of right to defence through legal assis- tance of defence counsel in international criminal courts. Relevant norms of Stat- utes, Rules of Procedure and Evidence of International Criminal Tribunal for former Yugoslavia, International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda and International Criminal Court, as well as international law doctrine are analyzed. Particular attention is paid to interrelation of right to free choice of defenсe counsel and requirements for his or her qualification.
