The Role and the Place of Religious Ecumenism in Contemporary Austrian Pedagogy

Abstract
The article is devoted to the analysis of teaching religious education at schools in Austria. The author identifies the goals and objectives of religious education. The general principles and methods of its implementation are emphasized in this article. The special attention is paid to the role and the place of religious ecumenism in contemporary pedagogy. Ecumenism is any effort aimed at the unity of Christians throughout the world. The goal of ecumenism is Christian unity. The adjective ecumenical can also be applied to any interdenominational initiative that encourages greater cooperation among Christians and their churches, whether or not the specific aim of that effort is full, visible unity. This information is revealed in the article. The confessional-cooperative registration of the lesson of religion, namely combination of evangelic and catholic studies is analyzed in the paper. A general conclusion is made concerning the religious ecumenism in Austrian pedagogy. The author arrives at the conclusion that the role of ecumenism in Austrian pedagogy is great .Some aspects of such education are outlined for further research.
