THE ROLE OF INNOVATIONS IN AGRICULTURAL DEVELOPMENT: FOREIGN EXPERIENCE

Abstract
Purpose. The aim of the article is to highlight the results of research on modern agricultural development tendencies in foreign countries and to determine the influence of innovations on the growth of this sector. Methodology of research. General scientific methods are used during the research, such as: systematic analysis of key indicators that influence the level of innovation activity of agriculture in a country; special methods of economic and statistical research to determine the dynamics of costs for research in the agricultural sector. Findings. The basic tendencies of agriculture development in the world and some developed countries are determined. A comparison of such countries as the USA, the Netherlands, India and Ukraine on the main indicators that characterize agricultural productivity is presented. The influence of innovations in the agrarian sphere, which consists in reducing the share of the employed population in agriculture with the growth of productivity of production, is substantiated. Target benchmarks are set up, which will ensure the innovative development of the agrarian sector of Ukraine. Originality. A systematic approach was used to determine the main directions of development of world agriculture and its special features in the developed countries in order to determine the factors contributing to the innovative growth of agriculture in the country. The above comparison of Ukraine to developed countries on the indicators of agricultural productivity gives an opportunity to assess the state of the Ukrainian agricultural sector in the developed countries. Practical value. The obtained results of the study are aimed at revealing patterns between state support, financing of innovative activity of the agricultural and the level of its development in the country.
