During the 1900s the museum affairs gain particular importance in Shevchenko Scientific Society’s activities as the part of the development of its research infrastructure. Historian’s personal involvement in organizing, arranging, and managing of the museum is revealed. M. Hrushevsky donated his personal archaeological collection, took part in the acquisition of ethnographic materials and involved his personal acquaintances and scientific connection into the process of museum’s collecting. The article also considers the conceptual framework of the Museum of Shevchenko Scientific Society. Particularly, the attention is paid to its scientific orientation and functioning as the factual basis for the development of Ukrainian science. The author stresses that the functioning of the Museum was accomplished according to the general European trends in the creation of national museums. Most European national museums represented the European nations’ achievements and pride. The Museum of Shevchenko Scientific Society as M.
