The role of professional criticism in the literary process

Abstract
The article reviews the role of the prominent literary critic, academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Azerbaijan, Bakir Nabiyev, who played an exceptional role in the development, both in the 1960s and 1980s, and in the modern period of literary criticism. His work served as a catalyst in the development of the literary process, stimulated innovative searches of creative youth, contributed to the development of new methodological foundations for the development of culture and art. Nabiyev’s work in assessing the contemporary trends in the development of literary criticism is a synthesis of the classical and contemporary trends in the evaluation of literary processes. The article reveals the unique qualities of the critic’s thinking, his exceptional memory, his vast intellect. The scientific work of B. Nabiyev is still to be studied to the end.
