THE ROLE OF THE INTELLECTUAL CAPITAL IN THE STRENGTHENING OF THE ENTERPRISE COMPETITIVE ADVANTAGES 

Abstract

In the article the concept of intellectual capital and its effective usage as an intangible resource of the enterprise is considered. The purpose of the article is research of the intellectual capital as the main competitive advantage of the enterprise under the market conditions of economy management and grounding of its structural element; determination the role of intellectual capital and the peculiarities of its use in modern enterprises. The differentiation of approaches to the definition of intellectual capital as well as its structural elements is researched. On the basis of previous studies it was determined that intellectual capital has three main components: human, structural and customer capital. The exact definition of the basic components of the intellectual capital, namely, intellectual property, intellectual assets, intellectual resource, intangible assets, is supplied. These particular components form the basis of intellectual capital as one of the main indicators of the company performance results in the current economic conditions. The main peculiarities of the intellectual capital, as an indicator that creates a competitive advantage in the enterprise, are determined. Four main groups of methods of intellectual capital are considered. Such a grouping of methods for measuring intellectual capital allows to assess the level of existing intangible assets in the enterprise, as well as the level of their utilization efficiency. Modern negative trends of development and implementation of intellectual capital in the enterprises, having formed in Ukraine, are researched. It is pointed out that in the current economic conditions of the transformational crisis in Ukraine enterprises do not have the opportunity to use existing intellectual potential to the full extent. It is noted that the efficiency of the usage of the intellectual capital in Ukraine is not enough in comparison with the results of solving this problem in other countries of the world.
