The Role of the Media in Foreign Policy

Abstract

Media with its massive force influences governments and decision-makers to an undeniable extent. International policy decisions outside the conventional policy and processes are undergoing structural changes in the media hegemony. Decision-makers in foreign politics under the influence of internal dynamics in the World are confronted with ideological discourses of the media, polarizations, and systematic pressures. Media can be a major force in producing desired policy outcomes by influencing public opinion. When media factors are evaluated in terms of international relations discipline; power parameters such as influencing masses, forming public opinion, influencing decision-makers come into play. The perspective that media influence internal and external affairs in decision-making is discussed in this article.
