THE SCHOLARS’ FEAR IN THE CONTEXT OF THE QUR`AN 35:28
Journal Title: The Journal of International Social Research - Year 2016, Vol 9, Issue 42
Abstract
Allah has infinite power, wisdom and mercy. All attributes (adjectives) are associated with Allah with absolute meaning. Human beings are obliged to know Him through his names and attributes and they were obligated to (only) worship Him alone. The Holy Qur’an (the literal word of God) was revealed to introduce the commands of Allah to the people in most efficient manner. People can recognize Allah only with knowledge. Therefore, recognizing Allah entirely is unlikely for those that are void of knowledge, and those who recognize Allah in a comprehensive sense are only the scholars. Recognition of Allah causes some consequences for the scholars. According to a verse in the Fatir Surah, the fear of Allah is one of the aspects inextricably linked with the scholar`s. Thus, in this article, the fear of scholars is investigated in relation to the context of the twenty-eighth verse of Fatir Surah (Q, 35:28).
