THE SPECIFIC NATURE OF THE TERMS DESCRIBING TERRORISM AND MECHANISMS OF THEIR TRANSLATION INTO UKRAINIAN

Abstract
The topic of “counterterrorism” remains one of the most controversial in the modern world. The specific nature of the terminology of texts reporting terrorism in the modern English language and mechanisms of their translation into the Ukrainian language are analysed in this paper. Carefully selected terms are systematized and presented according to their thematic subgroups, semantic, morphological and structural classifications, and the types of translation transformations. This study contributes to the understanding of terrorism phenomenon, and proposes the ways of how to translate the terms describing terrorism and their derivatives into Ukrainian.
