THE STRENGTH OF CHITOSAN FILMS. THE ROLE OF MOLECULAR WEIGHT, THE DEGREE OF ORDER, THE NATURE OF CONTRE-ION
Journal Title: Progress on Chemistry and Application of Chitin and its Derivatives - Year 2009, Vol 0, Issue
Abstract
The deformational-strength characteristics of chitosan films with different molecular weight and the degree of deacetylation derived from water-acid solutions with different nature and concentration have been researched. The comparison of the strength properties of films formed on different base was carried out. It showed, that the change of acid hydrocarbonic residual length in the composition of the solvent allows to regulate the bursting strength (rupture resistance) and resilience (elastic) modulus of the film at wide range.

ANALYSIS OF MODEL DRUG RELEASE KINETICS FROM COMPLEX MATRICES OF POLYLACTIDE-CHITOSAN
In the present paper the Authors analyse the experimental results of a model drug (ibuprofen) release approximated with three commonly used semi-empirical models: Korsmeyer-Peppas, first order kinetics and Gallagher-Corr...
SPIN-COATED CHITOSAN ON COPOLYESTER SUBSTRATES
In this work, uniform thin chitosan coatings were spin coated onto copolyester substrate. The use of high concentration acetic acid (50 wt.%) as the chitosan solvent increased the protonation of chitosan amino groups, al...
APPLICATION OF CROSS-LINKED CHITOSAN FOR NITRATE NITROGEN (V) REMOVAL FROM AQUEOUS SOLUTIONS
This study was aimed at determining the possibility of applying non-cross-linked chitosan (CHs) as well as chitosan cross-linked with glutaraldehyde (CHs-GLA) and epichlorohydrin (CHSECH) for the removal of nitrates (V)...
RHEOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF CHITOSAN BLENDS WITH PARTIALLY HYDROLYZED POLYACRYLAMIDE IN DIFFERENT SOLVENTS
In the present paper, the results of rheological measurements in solutions of chitosan (Ch) with partially hydrolyzed polyacrylamide (HPAM) are presented. Aqueous acetic acid, lactic acid and aqueous acetic acid/NaCl wer...
ASSESSMENT OF PHARMACEUTICAL PROPERTIES OF GYNAECOLOGICAL HYDROPHILIC GELS CONTAINING LACTIC ACID COMPLEXED WITH CHITOSAN
Gels containing lactic acid complexed with chitosan at a stoichiometric ration 1:1 and 2:1 and 5-25% content of polyoxyethylene glycol 200 are able to move from 25 to 30 cm. The addition of glycerol increases the movabil...
