“THE SUN OF THE DEAD” AND “BOOK OF THE LIVING”: THE TRADITIONS OF OLD RUSSIAN SINODIC BY I.S. SHMELEV

Abstract
The article discusses the traditions of old Russian sinodik (the memorial book with didactic preface) in I.S. Shmelev`s epic «The Sun of the dead». Analysis of the transformation of the toposes (permanent places) of the texts of sinodikintroduces additional shades of meaning of «the most terrible book» by the great Russian writer.
