THE TERRITORIAL STRUCTURE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT IN HUNGARY

Abstract
The article deals with the territorial structure and local government in Hungary; analyzes the specific nature of its regional and local powers; and analyses the process of decentralization in Hungary, as well. It explores the process of transformation of the whole system of public administration. It determines the powers of local self-government bodies and different forms of inter-municipal cooperation. The article goes on to examine the reform of the Hungarian system of local self-government.
