THE TRIBOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF DLC COATINGS LUBRICATED WITH THE BIODEGRADABLE CUTTING FLUID

Journal Title: Tribologia - Year 2014, Vol 257, Issue 5

Abstract

This paper presents the tribological results of diamond-like carbon DLC a type of a-C:H coating deposited on SW7M steel using the technique of chemical vapour deposition CVD. An observation of the coating structure was carried out using a scanning electron microscope SEM JSM-7100F, and its hardness was measured using Matsuzawa hardness tester. Analysis of the geometric structure of the surface a-C:H coating before and after tribological tests were performed with optical profilometer (Talysurf CCI Lite). The tribological tests were performed using a T-01 M tester working in combination a ball-on-disk in sliding movement. Tests were carried out under friction with lubrication, using a cutting fluid containing the improved additive zinc aspartate. Studies have shown that cutting fluid influenced the formation of anti-wear surface layers, which are secured against direct contact of rubbing surfaces. This had the effect of reducing the resistance movement and provided protection against corrosion during test.
