THE UNSUCCESSFUL ATTEMPTS OF COLONIZATION OF NORTHERN BRAZIL BY THE PORTUGUESES IN XVI SENTURY

Abstract
In the article we discovered the attempts of colonization of northern Brazil by the portugueses in XVI sentury. We detected that the portuguese crown entrusted a difficult mission of colonization of the detected region to the private persons – the consortium of captain-donatarios. The person of each participant of the mentioned consortium is elucidated. We revealed the contents of the royal diploma which regulated the rights and duties, defined borders of the land was granted by the king Joao ІІІ for consortium of donatarios on the territory of northern Brazil. The reasons of failures that evoked the crash of intentions of the portugueses relatively colonization of the northern part of Brazil at the appointed time are detected.
