THE USE OF INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (IT) IN THE EDUCATION OF CHILDREN WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

Abstract

The article discusses the basics of education for children with special educational needs with the use of information technologies such as: Wild Planet Kid Quest Walkie Talkies, Polaroid Pixie SD digital video cameras, Discovery Kids, QX5 digital microscopes, TTS, MI- MIO scanners to use with interactive whiteboards, WeDo robotics construction sets, Fourier digital instrumentation and KidSmart (IBM). The article also discusses the potential of such information technologies as: digital video and photo cameras, programmed toys or cordless phones as well as various games for learning orientation in a room or in the street, which greatly affect the creative development and knowledge of the child with disabilities. Information and communication technologies for children with disabilities play a role in their assimilating knowledge and acquiring new skills. The main purpose of using the above mentioned technologies is to develop relationships between children with disabilities and nondisabled children.<br/><br/>
