THE VARIANT ACCENTUATION OF LEXEMES IN UKRAINIAN LANGUAGE
Journal Title: Наукові праці. Серія "Філологія. Мовознавство" - Year 2018, Vol 315, Issue 303
Abstract
The article analyses and finds the time, ways, and causes of the emergence of a variant of the emphasis of the male nouns (custom, boyfriend, boat) and the feminine nouns (malice, thief, pine, darkness), which in lexicographic sources do not have a sequence in the affirmation of the accent that in the turn causes the doubts or the difficulties in choosing of the correct form. For the analysis the materials of Ukrainian accented monuments of the 16th–18th centuries, the lexicographic sources of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the modern Ukrainian dictionaries, the classical poetry, the dialectological works and the information from the Slavic languages were used. On the basis of the analysed material, the appropriate recommendations are given for the emphasis on lexemes. The observance of accentuation norms is an essential indicator of the culture of oral speech of the carrier of any language. For Ukrainians, this is a preservation of not only normativity, but also its characteristic melodic, song-fluid tune (speech).
