The Women Problem in the Works of Eliza Orzeszkowa

Abstract
In the 19 century, social and political conditions in Europe caused the emergence of new literary movements. In Poland, these movements developed differently from Europe. Under these new emergent perspectives, the place of the woman and the woman figure in Orzeszkowa's works will be discussed through comparisons with the period of romantism. There is a striking effect of Orzeszkowa's life style and life on her works. The woman motive which was getting stronger and becoming prominent as individuals in Poland especially in the period of positivism, is discussed in this study.
