THEORETICAL ASPECTS OF THE TERM “POLITICAL ELITE”

Abstract
This article examines some essential theoretical problems of the term “political elite”. Based on the performed theoretical review of different views of the elite, a definition of elitism as a scientific term has been formulated. The main classification models of elitism (classical and contemporary) have been also laid down based on an author's system of criteria, which relies on the achievements of the theories of the elite in the contemporary social sciences.
