THEORETICAL FOUNDATIONS OF ADVENTURE TOURISM

Abstract
The article is devoted to the study of the perspective direction of tourism development in Ukraine – adventure tourism. The authors explore the concept of “adventure tourism” and differentiate it from the related types of travel: sport and environmental tourism, provide the classification of adventure tourists, and identify factors that contribute to the uniqueness of adventure tours. An important contribution of the article is the study of characteristics and requirements for tourist centres of adventure tourism, as well as findings about the ways of development of this type of tourism in Ukraine.
