THEORETICAL FOUNDATIONS OF INTERNET ONOMASTICS

Abstract
In this article the peculiarities of computer-related personal names are outlined. The purpose of this article is to present a system of onomastic terms that may be used to refer to onomastic phenomena existing in the digital world. Different aspects of Internet onomastics are dwelt on in detail, which is the object of the research. The subject consists in analyzing the structure of site names, namely, domain names. As a result of the research, a classification of all personal names used in the digital world is presented, with particular emphasis laid on site names, thus uniting this state-of-the-art sphere with traditional onomastics. Among the methods employed, descriptive and quantitative methods are the most widely used. The research of Internet onomastics is a topic of considerable novelty for onomastics due to its short period of existence.
