Thoracic 1-2 Disc Herniation : Case Report
Journal Title: Journal of Neurological Sciences-Turkish - Year 2005, Vol 22, Issue 4
Abstract
Upper thoracic disc herniations are rare. Their clinical manifestations may be confusing. The dermatomal involvement in T1-2 and C7-T1 herniations may be similar and causes difficulties in the diagnosis. In this study, the authors reported a 63 years old female patient complaining of neck, back and left arm pain. She was mis-diagnosed as cervical stenosis at the first admission in another institution. After neurological evaluation and radiological examination, she was diagnosed as T 1-2 disc herniation and underwent a successful surgery. It is concluded that careful neurological and radiological examination is the main step of differential diagnosis in cases of upper thoracic disc herniation.
