Three-Dimensional Optimal Sliding-Mode Guidance for Homing Missiles Against Maneuvering Target
Journal Title: International Journal on Computer Science and Engineering - Year 2012, Vol 4, Issue 1
Abstract
A new missile guidance law is proposed for highly maneuvering target by integrating optimal and sliding-mode control theories based on state dependent Riccati equation (SDRE) to achieve robustness against external disturbances, i.e. target accelerations. The guidance acceleration command has been derived based on three-dimensional engagement kinematics. The new guidance method’s robustness against disturbances is proved by the second method of Lyapunov. The proposed guidance law requires the maximum value of target acceleration, and therefore on the contrary to traditional augmented proportional navigation guidance (APNG) law, exact information about target acceleration is not necessary, and hence it is simple to implement in practical applications. Considering several scenarios and different types of target accelerations simulations are carried out. Simulation results show that the proposed guidance law has better robustness, faster convergence, and smaller final time and control effort in comparison to the sliding-mode guidance (SMG) and APNG laws.
