THREE ‘GROTESQUE’ HELMET VISORS IN THE WALLACE COLLECTION

Journal Title: Acta Militaria Mediaevalia - Year 2015, Vol 11, Issue

Abstract

Three ‘grotesque’ helmet visors in the Wallace Collection have been analysed. Two were made of hardened steel, and are likely to have been products of the Innsbruck Hofplattnerei (Court Armoury) while the third one is a 19th c. fake.
