Tikas Pahinga: Lived Experiences of Elementary Scouting through the Lens of Learners

Abstract
The main objective of this qualitative study was to gain a comprehensive understanding of the experiences of elementary learners who participating scouting activities. Using purposive sampling band inclusion criteria, the participating fourteen (14) elementary learners from Maniki Central Elementary School, Kapalong Davao del Norte were identified. There were seven participated in in-depth interview and seven participated in focus group discussion. Utilizing thematic analysis, major findings uncovered meaningful insights into how elementary students perceive and experiences scouting, highlighting its positive impact on their personal and social growth. The results revealed the experiences of the participants were: challenges in terms of the environment while scouting; struggles as a scout leader; lack of financial support; and challenges and growth in scout activities. In response to the challenges that they have encountered, they supposed the following essential coping mechanisms: time management; being strong and motivated; teamwork and camaraderie; and self-discipline and goal setting. Upon reflecting on their entire experiences, they arrived at the following insights: being independent and responsible; social interaction and personal growth; learning fundamental life skills; and outdoor adventure and exploration. The results of this study were deemed significant by the participants, students, parents, teachers and researchers.
