Abstract
The article deals with the analysis of types of bilingualism, as well as the study of the sociolinguistic portrait of bilingualism as an object of sociolinguistic study. Despite the large number of works devoted to the issues of bilingualism, due to its multidimensionality and complexity, this problem continues to be concerned by domestic and foreign researchers, remaining one of the most relevant for modern linguistics. The existing scientific approaches to the study of this issue in the framework of sociolinguistics are described in this article. The questions of typology of bilingualism depending on this or that aspect of studying this problem are considered in detail.
