The article reveals structural and tectonic properties of the Shamakhi-Gobustan depression in connection with geodynamic environment, relation of the development of mud volcanoes to the geodynamic environment, the paleogeographic sedimentary environment during Cretaceous, Paleogene-Miocene, Pliocene stratigraphic intervals and identifies its hydrocarbon prospects
