To the problem of educational travel of Ukrainian students in foreign states in Rozumovsky’s ages (1743- 1764)

Abstract

The article deals with educational travel of the nobility in foreign states (Germany) during your career off in the imperial hierarchy of Olexiy Razumovsky and the Hetman Kyrylo Rozumovsky. First big trip took brother of imperial favorite Kyrylo Rozumovsky performed with his entourage covert educational journey in 1743 to Northern Germany. Following, since that time these travels in German universities made children of representatives nobility families.Very occasionally in such travel attention was given to training. Educational travel wore predominantly cognitived character , to learn the language or get acquainted with foreign land.Rozumovsky’s ages coincided with the times of the formation of the «new nobility», the new elite of the Ukrainian society. Education became an important feature of this elite. Studies in foreign universities was an important sign of such. These travels were quite expensive and unprofitable for parents. Beside the rich students were poor children of nobility. Defined by the geographical area of such travels is the Protestant universities of Northern Germany. The following table shows the individual representatives of the elite (Hudovich’s, Khanenko’s, Kuliabka’s, Ostrogradsky’s), studied at this time at the universities. The number of such students during 1744-1764 was quite small (50 people). Rozumovsky’s promoted these educational practices. Still the main practice of gaining knowledge was college education on the territory of the Hetmanate and RzeczPospolita. These question’s were still in need of thorough studies. The experience acquired during the educational travel at the same time stressed the need for an educational institution for the nobility in the Ukraine.
