TRANSDISCIPLINARY PRINCIPLES OF INTERPERSONAL PSYCHOANALYSIS OF H. S. SULLIVAN

Abstract

The article elucidates the logic of modernization of psychoanalysis in the interpersonal approach of H.S. Sullivan and lack of traditional interdisciplinary interpretation of his innovations. Author founds transdisciplinary understanding of methodological shift of Sullivan. The main intention of Sullivan was reorientation from mechanistic conceptual apparatus of classical psychoanalysis to more “human” language. This intention corresponded with the significant tendency of philosophy in the XX century to renovate the language of description of human experience. Furthermore Sullivan intended to leave biological explanation of human living and pathology of separate individual. He developed theory of human living in the context of its connectedness with human environment. In this approach the experiences and meanings were the main subject of investigation. The experiences and meanings stopped to be considered as the derivates of the biological instincts or drives as it was in the classical psychoanalysis. The main subjects of interpersonal approach of Sullivan were the modes of experience and quality of interpersonal connectedness.
