Transforming the technological structure of regional industrial complexes within a post–industrial development of Ukraine

Abstract
The paper describes the European approach to the evaluation of technological level of national and regional industrial complexes with the consideration of structural proportions recommended for EU countries. According to the theory of post–industrial development, the author gives assessments to the changes in the technological structure of regional industrial complexes of Ukraine in the following ratios: between the branches which determine scientific and technical progress and traditional industries; between types of economic activity, particularly industrial and others of different technological structures; between innovative and not innovative segments of complexes. Based on the estimates derived, the main directions to improve the technological structure of regional industrial complexes in modern conditions are offered. The article emphasizes the importance of introducing new technologies and the revival of mechanical engineering (using new technological platform) to upgrade the technological structure of regional industrial complexes and post–industrial development of Ukraine.
