Transport of copper ion through supported liquid membrane in microporous polyvinylidene fluoride hollow fiber module

Abstract
The mechanism on transport of copper through supported liquid membrane in microporous hydrophobic polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) hollow fiber module is studied with LIX984N as carrier and without any addition agents. The effects of operation mode, recycling flowing mode, flow rate, reuse of the liquid membrane, thickness of fiber, et al. On the transport of supported liquid membrane process are investigated. The results show that the feed solution flows through the lumen side of hollow fiber module is favorable for the transport process, and there is almost no effect of flow mode of recycling operation on the transport performance, including parallel flow and countercurrent flow; the transport efficient increases with increasing flow rate of lumen side fluid and decreasing of fiber thickness used in the hollow fiber module; due to the affinity between organic liquid membrane phase and hydrophobic PVDF fiber, the supported liquid membrane is more stable and can be reused.
