Triage: Gateway to the hospital level

Abstract
Triage helps to classify, select the individual according to the health condition maintained by the person, with the nursing staff acting as the main piece, thanks to the cephalo-caudal assessment and through vital signs, always prioritizing the patient's affectation. Objective: To describe the importance of triage as a gateway to the hospital level. Materials and methods: This article was carried out under the parameters of a descriptive, monographic, documentary review. The technique applied was the bibliographic file and the systematic analysis of the documents found on the web. The results: The triage process occurs when an emergency event exceeds the resources of a hospital center. This process is what determines a priori the patient's situation, classifying them according to the priority of care required. Conclusion: Triage is an important process in emergencies, because it allows optimizing resources and care to the affected persons, guaranteeing the appropriate and necessary treatment at the indicated time
