TRIBOLOGICAL PROPERTIES OF HVOF – SPRAYED COMPOSITE

Journal Title: Tribologia - Year 2009, Vol 226, Issue 4

Abstract

This paper presents the results of the research on nickel and composite coatings formed by High Velocity Oxygen Fuels Thermal Spray Process - HVOF from the Ni, Ni-SiC, Ni-TiN and Ni-Al2O3 powders on steel C45. The coatings are produced from commercial and synthesised powder materials. Their morphology and the structure of the coatings were imaged with a scanning electron microscope (SEM/EDS). The wear resistance and friction coefficient of the composite coatings were determined by a T-01M, a ball-disc tester. The tests were realised for technically dry friction and boundary lubrication in model lubricants: oil bases and oil bases with antiwear additives – 1% mass; ZDTP, during technically dry friction and boundary lubrication in model lubricants; oil bases and oil bases with antiwear additives AW. The analyses of the tribological tests confirm that the kind of chemical assimilate in fact had a determination on the properties.
