Turkey's Energy Efficiency Potential and Projections
Journal Title: Gazi Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri Dergisi Part C: Tasarım ve Teknoloji - Year 2015, Vol 3, Issue 1
Abstract
Currently, due to decreasing fossil energy resources and insufficient renewable and alternative energy resources, humankind has realized the value of energy and tried to use energy resources more efficiently. In this study, the population and energy consumption amounts, sectoral energy consumption amounts, energy efficiency issues, energy density and the technologies which affect energy efficiency in Turkey were analyzed and evaluations were done. It is stated in the article that, without restricting needs, contributing to the country’s economy while protecting environment is possible. Besides, it is seen that energy density of Turkey is above the average of EU and OECD countries. With the developing energy efficiency schedule, decreasing the energy density under 0,243 TEP/1000 dollars in 2018, which was 0,2646 TEP/1000 dollars in 2011, is targetted. Also, reducing 10% of energy consumption of public buildings till 2018 is aimed by productivity-enhancing applications.
