TURKIC TOPONYMS IN THE WORKS OF G. MUSIREPOV AND S. MUKANOV: HISTORICAL AND CULTURAL SIGNIFICANCE

Abstract
The article examines the use of Turkic toponyms in the works of writers from the North Kazakhstan region, focusing on the significance and origins of geographic names in the works of G. Musrepov and S. Mukanov. It reviews historical contexts and analyzes how these authors, native to the region, incorporate toponyms to enhance symbolic and national identity. The authors argue that Turkic toponyms function not only as place names but also as symbols preserving the cultural and historical codes of the region. Semantic features, symbolic meanings, and the cultural-historical context of names like «Karshygaly» and «Kushmurun» in Musrepov’s novel «Ulpan» are examined. Additionally, the origins of toponyms in Mukanov’s memoir «School of Life» are intertwined with the life stories presented, highlighting the connection between people’s lives and their environment. The stylistic approaches of both authors and the role of these geographic names within the text are discussed. This study contributes to understanding the cultural essence of toponyms in the writers’ works and their role in shaping the cultural heritage of North Kazakhstan.
